FROM OUR FOUNDERS
On this the 21st Anniversary of the discovery of AIDS, there is one thing that is clear -The AIDS pandemic is getting worse not better. Infection rates in the US and globally are going up, not down. A recent study of teens living in the US showed that 1 in 3 aren't even aware of how HIV is actually transmitted.
There are two main things that will help us win the war against AIDS - Money and Leadership. Many times they go hand in hand. The entire world looks to the US for leadership on almost every issue. Four US presidents have presided over the AIDS pandemic over the past 21 years including Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Sr., Bill Clinton and now George W. Bush. The truth about all four president's records on AIDS in some cases is not only surprising, but also telling.
When Bush was elected less than two years ago, those in the AIDS Community were concerned that there would be no support surrounding the AIDS pandemic from his administration. The fact is, George W. Bush is on track to be the most effective leader regarding AIDS related issues in history. We have done a tremendous amount of research to present to you the truth. Now you can make an educated decision for yourself, based on the facts.
The only way that we will win the War on AIDS is if we work together. However, it is everyone's responsibility to make our voices heard through positive action and leadership that results in positive change. One-way yelling and screaming can be attention getting, but will eventually fade, unless the action is used to also nurture the relationships to better understanding. It's called responsible two-way communication.
We encourage you to lobby your representatives in Congress for more AIDS funding or make a donation directly to your Local or National AIDS Service Organization.
